December 15, 2004
Manila, December 15, 2004 – Top corporations in the Philippines are confident about the country's economic climate and sees higher business opportunities in 2005. These firms are generally encouraged by the economic climate and the business prospects that accompany it. Although the country is still struggling with national concerns, these corporations believe that the Philippines is an excellent business location with flowing opportunities due to largely untapped domestic demand.
With the positive economic climate and stable business prospects, top firms are also confident that their total IT spending budget will likely increase in 2005 particularly on hardware and networking buying and leverage on IT services and software. This is in line with their primary investment area of improving their systems infrastructure and enterprise resource management (ERM) solutions.
"Top corporations in the Philippines are generally optimistic about the economic climate and business prospects in the country today, and even next year. This had helped greatly in bringing forth IT market traction during the first 10 months of 2004 and would significantly translate to further IT expansionary spending in 2005, particularly hardware buying and solutions on security, storage, and ERM. Vendors would need to come up with offerings that are parallel to corporate clients' needs and wants," says Jubert Daniel Alberto, senior analyst, IDC Philippines.
In the total market, top corporations have generally spent most of their IT budgets on buying of PC hardware requirements. IT businesses in the country are expected to boost due to the infrastructure projects from this sector . This is according to the fact that these large corporations consider IT as an integral component of their business operations.
IDC's recent research, View from the Top: A Look at the IT Spending of Top Corporations in the Philippines is a study that aims to explore the IT Spending behavior of the country's top corporations. Through this, information and technology (ICT) vendors and service providers would gain understanding on the top firms' IT mindset.
