| The Philippines ICT market outlook for 2008
The Philippines begins to show heightened information and communication technology (ICT) awareness in both the consumer and commercial segments. While some portions of the country have yet to fully adopt or implement IT infrastructures, gradual steps are being taken. On the back of relatively favorable socio-economic and political landscape, 2007 was a good year for they country's ICT market, characterized by innovated business models, offerings and product portfolios, redefined primary objectives and business strategies and expanded ICT spending and areas of business opportunities.
For this year, the outlook shows one of sound ICT market performance. IDC expects total IT spending to reach US$2.5 billion and telecommunications spending to US$ 3.4 billion in 2008. Key trends are showing to include expansions in areas outside the National Capital Region, intensification of consumer consumption and optimization of business operations and performance. Closely monitoring developments and trends in technology markets in this country continues to be an important factor in successfully capturing existing and emerging business opportunities for stakeholders.
