May 15, 2006
Philippines, May 15, 2006 – Based on a recent survey conducted by IDC, local companies have started to appreciate the benefits provided by IP Services thus resulting to the latter's robust growth in the market. Among these IP Services, IP VPN displays the highest rating of usage and proves to be the most popular among medium sized enterprises. About 52% of the surveyed companies plan to use IP VPN in the next two years.
"Companies in the Philippines are headed toward increasing awareness and appreciation of the wide variety of IP services and are looking to expand their usage of such services in the next two years" , says Karen Rondon, Senior Analyst, Communications Research, IDC Philippines.
Results also show that the usage of IP PBX remains low although it presents the highest usage among large companies while IP Central office exchange service (IP Centrex) still remains behind and insignificant. Moreover, enterprise resource planning (ERP) tops the list of most common IP value-added service (VAS) among enterprises followed by Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
The survey also revealed that DSL is now by far the preferred Internet access service by all business sizes and most vertical industries. Companies primarily use most Internet access services for their core networks, while pure Internet access remains the primary usage of broadband networks followed by transport voice.
