The study, entitled Philippines IT Market Sentiment, 2007, presents that Philippines businesses continued taking on the direction of IT adoption as it continually invested in hardware, software, and services. Considering that the country is still on the edge of completing and improving infrastructure for IT adoption, the report shares that hardware spending will continue to top most companies' list followed by software and then services. Growth in spending might prove promising, as nearly all sectors foresaw an increase in expenditure by more than half. This, in turn, translates into more investments from the various sectors, as each engage to either grow its business or strengthen its foothold in the market it is playing. These buying trends will center on maintenance, replacements, upgrades, and first-time investments.
"Organizations in the country are generally optimistic about the economic climate
and business prospects in 2007. With these positive sentiments, expenditure on IT is seen to continue its growth path, characterized by a good mix of projects involving replacement, upgrades, and/or first-time investments. In order to benefit from
the optimism from the end-user community, information and communication (ICT)
players should allot resources for improving after-sales support and services.
In addition, vendors should also offer flexible offerings, take verticalization approach, and expand market reach by pursuing nontraditional and alternative routes," says Catherine Foronda, Analyst, IDC Philippines.
IDC's latest research, Philippines IT Market Sentiment, 2007 tackles IT spending priorities per industry. Decisions regarding which hardware, what software and what type of service will guide vendors and prepare them for specific demands in the coming year. Issues like top business concerns or preferred IT investment areas are likewise discussed to provide a better perspective of organizational needs and direction.
