Philippine ICT Spending in 2010 and Beyond |
| |
 |
Jubert Daniel Alberto,
Research Manager, IT Spending Research, IDC ASEAN |
| |
In 2010, an upswing from the global economic crisis is expected. This will be a good jump-off point for further recovery in later years, as the market saw lower growth levels in overall IT spending and a drop in overall telco spending in 2009. The 2010 ICT market will see modest growth across segments, driven by the transformation in business objectives, both from the vendor and service provider (SP) community and the end-user segments, be it corporate or small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and consumer. |

Telecommunication Transformation Strategies : The Rise of a New Era |
| |
 |
Karen Rondon,
Research Manager, Telecommunications Research, IDC ASEAN |
| |
Telecommunication service providers are at a cross roads of their industry whereby service providers are faced with tougher competition, increasing expectations by end users, legacy revenue models, ROI on investments and new emerging technology. With revenue growth slowing down in traditional services, telcos are faced with need to identify greenfield areas of growth. Prepping for new revenue models, will require telcos to undergo a transformation from being an access provider to a service oriented provider. |

Directions to the envisioned "New Normal" of Software |
| |

Roger Ling,
Research Manager, Software Research, IDC ASEAN |

"The Only Thing That Is Constant Is Change" - Heraclitus of Ephesus (c.535 BC - 475 BC), Greek
philosopher. We see this quote alive in all that is around us, from the way we work to the way we play. Key to change are the shifts which creates new normals. 2009 was a period of change brought about the onset of the global economic crisis. As a result, the underlying theme is now what is the new normal?
IDC believes the Software Market is also going through a period of transformation and heading towards
new normals. We are at a time when a strategic inflection point can be observed and through transformation opportunities. Roger will discuss the plausible New Normal of the software market, looking at the shape of things to come. |
