IDC Philippines is proud to present “Philippine ICT in 2010: Year of Recovery and Transformation".
The political and economic events in 2009 have provided a tough landscape for investments in the country. Though the economy successfully eluded a recession, it failed to appease investors' negative sentiments on the health of the economy. Adding to the fragile investor sentiments in 2009, two devastating typhoons have ravaged the country, leaving Php11 billion worth of damages. Nonetheless, the Philippine economy continued to grow, leaving packets of opportunity for 2010.
IDC predicted that even if the market faces uncertainty in 2009, the economic crunch would still spawn market opportunity. This was made possible through key measures that were designed to alleviate any major impact of the global crisis. The country, being a relatively less than sophisticated economy compared with other countries, has been cushioned to suffer lesser grave effects of the global crisis.
While 2009 was a period of anticipation on the effects of the global economic crisis, sentiments on 2010 centers on the capacity of the country to recover from the spillover effects of the crisis. Investment decisions are seen to shift from short-term prospects to long-term growth. Overall, the ICT landscape in the Philippines will be characterized by the recovery of the ICT spending psyche and activities, and
transformation of key business objectives of the enterprise sector, as well as the consumers' ICT focus. Moreover, as a result of the ever-evolving end-user objectives and key focus areas, vendors and SPs will also examine their key transformational strategies in order to encapsulate the demand, especially as the market is gearing up to fully recover from the ill effects of the global economic slowdown.
Key areas that will be addressed at this conference will include:
