Chong Senior

Telecommunication service providers
in Malaysia continue to face a challenging
environment characterized by technology
substitution, erosion of legacy services
revenue; slower than expected roll-out
of new substitute products, changing customer
needs and expectations; and the increasing
convergence of telecom and IT. The telecom
industry is in the throes of a major revolution
from a network or device focused marketplace
to a user-centric, service-delivery focus
that will allow users to create, control
and personalize a unified communications
experience across networks. These elements
pulled together is expected to shakeup
the telecommunications market with the
impact of new solutions and "dynamic
IT" spreading beyond the IT environment
to converge in Telecommunications market.
Ms. Melissa Chong will explore the issues
driving the industry towards this new
convergence and the likely results of
this revolution. |

Enterprises are on the constant look
out to increase productivity while reducing
cost. With the recent flurry of telecommunication
technology advances offering such promises
to the market, it is no surprise the customer
is spoilt for choice, if not confuse on
what these technologies can really offer.
Many enterprises are begining their journey
down towards an enterprise wide IP Telephony
system, that is the building block that
will pave the way for Unified Communications
in the enterprise market. Enterprises
will begin to look towards applications
and services that will enhance their telecommunication
infrastructure, while increasing productivtiy
as well as improving their bottom line.
IDC will explore the emerging applications
that will or will not come into the enterprise
space and the pockets of opportunity for
service providers in this business. |
