Roger Ling

Research Manger, Software Research, IDC ASEAN

 
Roger Ling is IDC's Research Manager specializing in Software research for the ASEAN market, based in Kuala Lumpur. In this role, he is responsible for analyzing and forecasting the local software market, focusing primarily on the Business Intelligence, and Database and Enterprise Application segments. He is not only a key contributor of the Malaysia Software Tracker product, he is also the anchor analyst for IDC's online gaming and security research for the Indonesia market. His expertise and insight into the Malaysia software market has been instrumental in several successful multiclient studies and Asia/Pacific government consulting projects.
 

Prior to joining IDC, Roger was with Microsoft's Dynamics business unit, where he was involved in channel management of the Microsoft Dynamics channel in Malaysia with a strong focus on growing the installed base. During his tenure, the local business unit achieved one of the highest maintenance renewal rates in the Asia/Pacific region, while at the same time, achieving Microsoft's coveted Yellow Jersey Award, which is presented to the fastest growing local business units worldwide.

 
Roger graduated from the University of Southern Queensland (Australia) with a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology.
 
 

 
Sudev Bangah

Research Manager, Consulting IDC ASEAN

 
As Research Manager of IDC’s Asia/Pacific Consulting Group, Sudev Bangah is responsible for consulting research projects in the ASEAN region.
 

Based in the Kuala Lumpur office, Sudev project manages each consulting project within his scope, provides clients with insights and the framework for cross-product consulting projects as well as market intelligence in a range of Go-To-Market services such as market entry analysis, market segmentation and buyer behavior. With these tailored analyses, clients gain invaluable and intelligent insights to help attain their business objectives.

 
Sudev recently completed several IDC Consulting projects in the area of Business Processes Outsourcing (BPO), specific technologies, Information Security (IS) and telecommunications.

Prior to joining IDC, Sudev was a Senior Executive at Multimedia Development Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (MDeC), the organization entrusted to spearhead the ICT industry in Malaysia.
 
During his tenure in MDeC, he was responsible for managing the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) IT Service Management Program (ISO 20000) rollout to further increase the adoption of the standard across Malaysia. Sudev also worked on various strategy implementations to increase performance capabilities amongst Malaysian Small and Medium Enterprises. In addition, he led department wide communication initiatives by placing processes and frameworks surrounding inter-department communication protocols and policies while at MDec.

Sudev is ITIL® certified and a committee member of the IT Service Management Forum (itSMF) for the Malaysia Chapter. He has been invited to speak and present findings at several industry events on ITSM implementation in Malaysia.
 
Sudev holds a Bachelor of Psychology degree from Curtin University of Technology, Australia and has successfully completed the ISO 9001 Lead Auditor course.
 

 
Michael Smith

Security Evangelist, Akamai

 
Michael Smith serves as Akamai’s Security Evangelist and is the customer-facing ambassador from the Information Security Team, helping customers to understand both the internal security program and the unique security features and capabilities of the Akamai product portfolio and cloud-based solutions. Mr Smith fulfils a cross-functional role as a liaison between security, sales, product management, compliance, engineering, professional services, and marketing.
 
Prior to joining Akamai, Mr Smith served as an embedded security engineer, security officer for a managed service provider, and security assessment team lead. He is an adjunct professor for Carnegie Mellon University and teaches through the non-profit Potomac Forum.
 
 

 
Derrick Ng

Regional Sales Manager, Check Point Software Technologies Ltd

 
Derrick Ng is the Regional Sales Manager responsible for building and increasing the Check Point business in Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia. He works closely with the Check Point Partners in these countries to increase the awareness of the latest security issues and the Check Point approach to combating the latest threats.
 
Derrick is a well-known security advocate and industry speaker. He has more than 10 years of IT industry experience, helping government, telecommunications and commercial companies with their networks.
 
Prior to joining Check Point, Derrick worked at SingTel as a System and Network Engineer and managed SingTel's internal IT system and network infrastructure. He was also involved in business development at NCS, where he managed Singapore Defence as a strategic account, developing business strategies to generate new opportunities via cooperative planning of the IT infrastructure.
 
Derrick earned a Bachelor of IT (Information System) from Queensland University of Technology.
 
 

 
Philip Victor

SISP, Director, Training & Skills Development, Centre for Training & Skills Development, Head, Outreach, Centre for Policy & International Cooperation, IMPACT

 
Philip Victor oversees two divisions within IMPACT. As Director, Training & Skills Development, Mr. Victor manages the design, development and deployment of courses and training curriculum targeted at cybersecurity professionals at IMPACT’s Centre for Training & Skills Development. Mr. Victor also oversees the development of IMPACT’s relationships between partners in the industry, international organizations, academia and governments of partner countries, as Head, Outreach.
 
In previous capacities, Mr. Victor led training and outreach for a national cybersecurity agency. There, he headed national cybersecurity programmes focused on increasing awareness for Internet users in the country, including enterprises, parents, children and ministries.

Mr. Victor also spearheaded national capacity-building programmes at and successfully reduced the ratio of cybersecurity professionals to Internet users in the country. Through these initiatives, he also increased the number of cybersecurity professionals in Critical National Information Infrastructure Protection-related organizations.
 
Mr. Victor has a bachelor’s degree in computer science and is a certified Sensecurity Institute Security Practitioner. He brings with him a total of 18 years in the IT industry and 10 years in cybersecurity.
