Data Center Efficiency: You Can’t Manage It Unless You Measure It

David Blumanis

Data Centre Evangelist, Asia Pacific and Japan, APCC

Energy Efficiency is a top of the mind topic for customers today, with the most compelling business case for “going green” being on of the fiscal responsibility. Financial waste due to inefficient systems robs budgets of funds that could be used elsewhere.

Your budget limits the amount of money. You have to stretch every bit of both as far as you can. Do you and your staff know the top ten planning mistakes to avoid? The easiest way to improve cooling without spending a dime? Find these answers and more in our latest selection of white papers. Take advantage of our valuable research today and save yourself money and headaches tomorrow.

1.45 pm Chairperson's Remarks

1.50 pm HP Workshop 1 HP & Intel Workshop 2

Journey to designing an innovative & energy efficient data centre of the future   Energy Optimization Workshop

Jane Rushton
Eddie Toh
Enterprise Program Manager for Data Centre Hewlett Packard Regional Platform Marketing Manager, Server Platforms Group, Asia Pacific, Intel Technology

Today’s new reality is that the data centre does not support the business—it powers the business. Data centre risks are now business risks, and data centre opportunities are now business opportunities. And business success is inextricably linked to data centre strategy. However, many businesses with last-generation data centres are facing obstacles—skyrocketing energy costs, infrastructure and capacity restrictions, and limited power availability—that could impede business success. Computing-demand growth is exacerbating the increase in global energy use; and data centres, in particular—because of hardware cooling requirements—are the focus of attention.   This workshop will show how accelerating infrastructure refresh can reduce your costs while reducing your carbon footprint. ROI analysis will be used to quantify the potential efficiencies that can be gained by deploying servers based on the latest Intel Xeon processors, and also illustrate how HP can bring additional benefits from chip to chiller in the data center.

To narrow the gap between the demands of computing performance and the adoption of energy-efficiency improvements, this workshop seeks to help attendees understand some of the energy-efficient strategies that can be implemented in ways that do not compromise data centre availability, performance, or security. Attendees will go through scenario planning in an interactive session with experts that are leaders in energy-efficiency facilities design, energy modelling, measurement, and verification.

At HP, we want to help your organization create an energy-efficient data centre that allows you to control costs, conserve energy, cut your carbon footprint, and achieve sustainable business outcomes.
