In this role, Kah Yi has the responsibility to develop new solutions that fit into customers’ environment while at the same time ensuring Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of the solutions. He also provide high quality security consultancy to customers across APAC region whilst engaging in public presentation to create awareness for IT Security and the range of solutions from Trend Micro.
Kah Yi joined Trend Micro in 2006 as Senior Security Consultant managing a portfolio of clients from various industries in Malaysia. He brought with him vast years of experience in sales and project implementation. Making security fit is his motto, which garnered him a lot of respect from customers as they can rely on him to close security gaps in their IT infrastructure and systems. He holds a CISSP title, enabling him to better utilize service to find security solutions that fit the clients’ needs.
Kah Yi began his career with a local IT company in Sabah, supporting the formation of SabahNet, one of the first state net in Malaysia. He was then trained on Netscape products and SUN servers, which were the initial products used by SabahNet. During his 3 years tenure here, he honed his skills in pre-sales and implementation projects for SUN/Netscape bundling solution as well as web-based software development solution using Netscape Enterprise server.
In 2000, he joined KKIP Communications, in time for the review of 2nd phase of SabahNet Implementation. For the first 2 years, he was involved heavily on managing the system part of the network, i.e. servers software and hardware. More security products were then introduced including Trend Micro Neatsuite. When KKIPC was later awarded the IT solution provider for Sukma (Sukan Malaysia) in 2002, he was roped in to manage the servers including implementation and deployment of security products.
He was also engaged as one of the technical project managers for a few data center projects such as Nasioncom network/servers/security audit, Brunei DST Comm data center audit and JTB Data Center revamp to DRC during his tenure with KKIP Communicaitons. He also managed and restructured the whole KKIPCom’s technical team when the company went through its new company branding and listing exercise.
Kah Yi holds a Masters Degree, MSc in Distributed Systems, from University of Kent, Canterbury, UK.
