The buzz around Cloud Computing
has picked-up faster than any other "new"
idea in computing in recent times. The good part
is that it is real, and delivering the benefits
claimed, and the not so good part is that many
repackaged ideas are being labeled as Cloud Computing
in absence of a clear definition from any academic
or industry source. This session will present
the various interpretations of Cloud Computing,
and what are the reality checks for customers
excited by the perceived benefits of Cloud Computing.
As it often happens, there are instances of technologies
looking for a problem to solve, and the key player:
the applications are forgotten in the rush to
promote. |

Software+Services |

The IT industry has historically
been defined by a series of periodic, transformative
shifts in the way people think about computing
and we are in the midst of another services transformation.
If you think about some of the key innovation
vectors happening in technology today, the move
toward service orientation is the comon denominator.
Software as a Services (SaaS) for example is really
just service delivery, while SOA is really just
Service composition. There is also Web 2.0, about
the social and collaborative experiences made
possible through services on the web and how those
exposures are monetized. Finally, the use of the
word "Smart" in all aspects of technology.
For instance, Smart Client & Smart Phone is
the channel of delivery for application and contents
that can also leverage on the promises that IT
supposed to deliver thru connected experience
by leveraging the best of Software and Services
worlds service technology. This session will deliver
the strategic thinking behind the Software+Services
Architecture for the enterprise |
